The NSM Bison outlasted the Wolverines of Dade County, Georgia Friday, August 30, to the tune of 28-26. The Wolverines’ Malaki Webb intercepted Landon Green and then scored two plays later. Dade County went for two and converted when Makinley Everett punched into the endzone on a quarterback keeper to put the Wolverines up 8-0. Webb extended the lead to 14-0 with another score from 12 yards out to start the second quarter. Green took over from there with two touchdown passes to Jonah Pennington. Green hit Pennington for nine and 16 yards to tie the game at 14-all going into the half. Web had another 8-yard run in the third quarter to put the Wolverines back up 20-14. The Bison countered, however, when Damon Gentle capped a 63-yard drive with a 6-yard touchdown run. Cade McBryar converted the 2-point attempt, and NSM led 22-20. The Bison increased their advantage when Gentle intercepted the ball and then added an 83-yard run to the Wolverines 4-yard line. Green would go on to score from 2 yards out, but the 2-point conversion would fail to leave the score at 28-0 with 3:30 to play in the game. The Wolverines came back and scored once more when Everett connected with Josh Williams for a 13-yard touchdown strike. The Wolverines’ only hope to tie the game but a 2-point conversion failed and the Bison outlasted the Wolverines 28-26.
