STEVENSON – The Jackson County Board of Education recently named Desiree Clark as North Jackson High School’s assistant principal. North Jackson has been without an assistant principal this year after Ms. Shannon McClain became principal at Stevenson Elementary in August. North Jackson High School announced the choice of Clark on its Facebook page and shared its excitement on the selection. The post stated, “Principal Josh Harding recognized the special environment here with our Tribe. The position should not be filled quickly and without consideration. The person must have the drive, a genuine love for our students, and an ability to lead while also knowing how to exemplify following leadership. Mrs. Desiree Clark has exhibited these qualities while working at North Jackson for the past six years as a special education teacher. She was also formerly the Lady Chiefs Volleyball Coach. Although Desiree is a Scottsboro graduate, she is wholeheartedly a leader in our Tribe. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Athens State, her Master’s Degree in K-12 Special Education from Jacksonville State University, and now, her Master’s of Education in Instructional Leadership from Alabama A&M University. For 26 years, she’s been married to Jonathan Clark, who was in the military. In the past, they were stationed in Hawaii and Washington State, where he contracted on Lewis-McChord Airbase for two years. Mrs. Clark and her husband have two children. Brett is graduating to pursue a degree in education, and Lauryn is an RN currently serving as a missionary nurse with YWAM ships (Youth With a Mission.) Desiree says about her North Jackson home: ‘I always say it’s the best place to work. We believe in what we are doing here. It is more than just a place to work. We are family. We are a tribe.’ Mrs. Clark has already been a member of our family, but now we welcome her as our other fearless leader. With Josh Harding and Desiree Clark as administrators, the Chiefs are in capable, loving hands!”
