By Cinthia Rico OAKVILLE – Two Jackson County teams traveled to Oakville Indian Mounds Park last weekend to participate in the Chickasaw Trails Invitational.
Pisgah and North Sand Mountain were among more than 100 teams from three states who participated in Saturday’s meet.
In the Small School Varsity Girls 5000 Meter race, Pisgah’s Nevaeh Evans took 12th place with a time of 21:33.08, and was the only local runner to break the top 15.
North Sand Mountain’s Paisley Pritchett finished in 64th place with a time of 23:43.19.
Taking the top three spots were Maddyn Conn of White Plains (18:34.81) 1st, Reagan Parris of Cold Springs (20:07.67) in 2nd, and Catherine Hinson of Indian Springs (20:13.77) in 3rd place.
In the Small School Varsity Boys 5000 Meter race, Pisgah’s Tristan Little finished in 29th place with a time of 18:21.91, Layne Howell (18:59.50) trailed in 49th place among the top 50 finishers.
Taking the top three spots were Ethan Edgeworth of Cold Springs (15:01.43) in 1st, Eric Moore of Huntsville High School (15:17.91) in 2nd, and Samuel Trumble of Montgomery Bell Academy (15:29.45) in 3rd place.
In the Large School Varsity Girls 5000 Meter race, Lucy Benton of Mountain Brook High School (18:24.54) took 1st, Isabel Yonas of South Forsyth High School (18:31.20) took 2nd, and Claire Spooner of Vestavia Hills High School (18:33.85) took 3rd.
In the Large School Varsity Boys 5000 Meter race, Travis Barnett of Holly Pond (16:25.03) took 1st, Coston Korotky of Westminster Christian Academy (16:29.37) took 2nd, and Bailey Kendrick of DAR (16:44.37) took 3rd.
