By Cinthia Rico OAKVILLE – Runners from four Jackson County School cross country programs earned a shot at the 68th AHSAA Cross Country Championship meet on Saturday.
Athletes from Scottsboro, Pisgah, Section and North Sand Mountain High Schools competed in the event, featuring the best teams and individual runners across Alabama.

The Scottsboro Varsity Boys Cross Country Team claimed the 2023 Class 5A state championship with a low score of 40 team points.
Stephen Jones led the Wildcats and finished in fourth place in Class 5A with a time of 16:08.79. Hamilton Richardson finished in fifth place with a time of 16:09.70.
Ryder Linville posted an 11th-place finish with a time of 16:32.00; Brady Strickland finished in 14th place (16:47.46); and Patton Russell (16:55.96) posted a 16th-place finish.

Bank Bradford paced the Scottsboro varsity girls team to a third-place finish, placing 8th with a time of 19:21.25. Ally Campbell (19:30.64) took tenth place, while Cambree Bradford (19:53.08) placed fifteenth.
Tristan Little of Pisgah finished in 11th place in Class 1A-2A with a timing of 16:55.81.

With a time of 20:24.31, Pisgah’s Nevaeh Evans finished in 5th place in Class 1A-2A, and Addison Schultz came in 12th with a time of 21:16.95. The Eagles girls team posted a 4th-place finish.
Class 5A Scottsboro – Keyton Allen, Luke Barber, Elliot Jannert, Stephen Jones, McGee Kilgore, Ryder Linville, Kayden Price, Hamilton Richardson, Patton Russell and Brady Strickland.
