With school just around the corner, campuses are preparing for the return of their students.
The start of the new school year also comes with the beginning of various sports, including football, cross country, basketball, and volleyball, among others.
Additionally, it also marks the start of the new cheer and marching band season.
With many athletes prepping during the summer weeks and improving their skills for the upcoming season, fans will soon fill the bleachers of their prospective campuses.
Many factors drive students to pursue and participate in high school sports, organizations and extracurricular activities, and according to multiple studies, high school sports provide a variety of benefits for students, including the following:
• learning the benefit of representing their community on the field or court, and the honor of representing their home team
• improvement of fitness and wellbeing
• academic improvement
• social relationships
• leadership skills
• time management
Long-lasting skills such as teamwork and sportsmanship are developed through athletics, providing students the chance to improve more than just their game.
